About Our Dogs

Savannah
Savannah

Savannah
AKC: Lady Savannah of Rosewood

Born on February 17, 1998, Savannah is still enjoyed as much today as when we got her as a pup! She is incredibly smart, playful and energetic. She's a socialite, loves people and is very tolerant with children and other animals, including cats. Very athletic, Savannah loves to run, jump and has endless energy especially if playing ball. She definitely lives up to the name "retriever".

Savannah comes from a long line of field/hunting bloodlines.

Sierra
AKC: Savannah's Sierra Rae of Dakota

Sierra is Savannah's daughter with Dakota's Magic Hell'ucination (a.k.a. Riley). Sierra was born on November 4, 2001. She is the kindest, gentlest Golden you'll ever meet. She loves kids and has an enormous amount of patience and tolerance for them. She loves to "high five" and "shake" but most of all she loves laying by your side.

Sierra comes from a combination of field/hunting bloodlines and show champion lines. Her father, Riley, is an American champion show dog from Longacres Goldens owned and operated by Steven and Terryl Mueller.

The Dad's

We choose our stud dogs very carefully. You will be fully informed as to who dad is, his history and his health prior to your purchase.

Finding the right stud dog is quite a task. We look for health certifications including heart, hips, eyes, thyroid and elbows. We also focus on bloodlines, offspring, size, build and of course, most importantly we look for the true Golden temperament.

The Puppies

All of our puppies are born and raised in our home. That's right, we believe Goldens belong in the home, not outside on a leash or in a kennel. They are raised as part of our family.

By the time you bring your puppy home he or she will be, at the very least, paper trained and possibly even potty trained. They will be used to the noises that go on in the home, kennel comfortable and well socialized by young and old. They will be on a strict schedule in order to pre-pare them for their new home. Our biggest compliment is that our puppies are usually sleeping through the night within 1-3 days after they arrive in their new home.

A veterinarian will see your puppy several times, for everything from dewclaws to shots. At Savannah Acres we believe the more often a puppy is seen by a vet, the better! For that reason we have chosen not to administer our own shots. We will worm them from two weeks on, feed them top of the line puppy chow as well as nutritional snacks and supplemental vitamins.

We start all of our puppies on basic obedience training; come, sit, stay and of course retrieving. But most of all we teach our puppies to love, trust and respect people.

We encourage you to come and meet us anytime and especially to visit your new puppy. In fact we require you to visit at least a few times before puppy goes home to ease their transition. After all, leaving its littermates and mother is the most traumatic experience a puppy will have in its lifetime. Because it can also be for you and your family, we will do everything possible to make it easier!
